A Political Tsunami

The large scale of casualties in a Tsunami is a result of not just the level of its power, but also the cunning tactics by which it lures its targets into the area of attack. It all starts with a drawback, which causes the water along the coast to recede as the trough of  wave reaches the shore. This is a deadly trap for naive and unsuspecting folks who decide to explore the curiosities of the part of seabed that lies exposed. What lies ahead for them is the full-fledged onslaught of the wave crest.
Arvind Kejriwal, it seems, followed similar tactics in his attack on Robert Vadra – well, almost. First he fired a round of serious allegations, backed by few facts and documents. This may have made Vadra take him lightly, for he simply refuted all allegations instead of doing a careful analysis to separate solid facts from subjective inferences, and providing an alternate inference/conclusion consistent with the proven facts, but projecting not so unfavourable an image of himself. The Congress also took the bait and came to Vadra’s defence, for they usually do not miss any opportunity to be in the good books of the first family. The next day, Kejriwal came up with more details and supporting doucments to build a sound case against Vadra. Congress ministers and party leaders who rubbished Kejriwal’s claims the previous day now sought to distance themselves from Vadra, but they could not take back what they had already said.
While this technique is very effective, I feel Kejriwal should have given Congress more time to be completely ensnared in the web of their own lies before coming out with concrete evidence. It now needs to be seen if Kejriwal has other cards up his sleeve.
